Mac: Create ASCII banner in the terminal
On MacOs, you can also use the terminal to create ASCII banners. We show you in our instructions how this works.
Create ASCII banners in the Mac terminal
MacOS developers have built a small ASCII function into the terminal. You can start this easily and quickly via the terminal:
- Open your terminal application. You can find these using the Spotlight search, for example.
- With the command "banner" you can now access the function.
- Possible variables are the desired text message and the width (-w) of the text.
- For example, the command "banner -w 40 praxistipps.chip.de" would generate an ASCII banner with the lettering "praxistipps.chip.de" in width 40. You can then copy the banner and save it in another document.
