Mac: Deactivate Bluetooth - how it works
This practical tip shows you how to deactivate the Bluetooth connection on Mac. You save electricity and are invisible to other Bluetooth devices.
How to disable Bluetooth on your Mac
When you start your Mac for the first time, Bluetooth is turned on by default. If you want to deactivate it, these steps will help you.
- In the menu bar at the top, see a "B" between the speaker symbol and the WLAN icon, tap on it and select "Deactivate Bluetooth".
- If you cannot find the symbol in the bar, click on the Apple icon in the top left and navigate to "Bluetooth" via "System Settings ...".
- Opt for "Deactivate Bluetooth".
- In this menu you set whether you want to display the Bluetooth symbol in your menu bar. To do this, check the box "Show Bluetooth in the menu bar". Then repeat the first step.
The practical tip refers to Mac OS X 10.9.4, other versions may differ. How you can also deactivate the built-in camera on your MacBook and display the volume in the menu bar can be found in other practical tips.
