Mac: Deactivate dashboard - how it works
We explain how to remove the dashboard under Mac OS in this practical guide. If you don't use the internal Mac tool, you should deactivate the dashboard and save resources.
How to disable the dashboard on Mac
- To do this, select the magnifying glass in the task bar between the time and the message center.
- Enter "Terminal" and select the term mentioned under "Top hits" or "Programs".
- The command "defaults write com.apple.dashboard mcx-disabled -boolean YES && killall Dock" deactivates the dashboard.
- You will not be asked for your password. You can also make the changes as a standard user.
- If you want to reactivate the dashboard, type "defaults write com.apple.dashboard mcx-disabled -boolean NO && killall Dock".
