Mac: Encrypt emails - how it works
With the help of the open source tool GPG Suite, you can encrypt your e-mail on Mac and thus protect it from unwanted readers and dangerous tricksters. You can read here how it works.
Encrypt emails in just a few steps with GPG Suite
In the free GPG Suite you will find everything you need to encrypt your emails. We'll show you how to set up the program.
- First, download the GPG Suite package.
- Open the image and install the mail extension and the associated GPG keychain program by opening the downloaded package.
- Open the program and create a separate key for each email address.
- You can upload your key to the GPG server using the "Upload Key" function. People who know your email address can then download the key and send you encrypted emails.
- Restart the mail application. If you now compose a new email, an encryption button and a button that signs the email will appear.
- Activate the lock to encrypt your email.
- Remember to provide the key phrase to your recipient. Without it, your email cannot be decrypted.
