Mac: Assign a fixed IP address - how it works
You can also assign a fixed IP address to your Mac. We'll tell you exactly how this works in this practical tip.
Assign a fixed IP address on the Mac - so it'll work
- First open the "System Preferences" on your Mac.
- Then go to "Network"> "Configure IPv4". First check the box "Always assign the same IPv4 address to this network device".
- Set the options to "Manual" and then enter the IP address in the respective field.
- Save the changes with "OK". You can also leave this field blank so that the Mac is automatically assigned a fixed IP.
This practical tip is based on Mac OS X. In the next practical tip, find out what can happen if the Mac does not remember the network.
