Mac: Reset firmware password - how it works
With a little luck, you can reset your Mac's firmware password if you forget it, for example. We show you where and how it works.
Reset firmware password on Mac
Use the following method to disable your Mac's firmware password and then configure a new one:
- Restart your Mac and press the following key combination at the same time to start the recovery mode: CMD + R
- Now click on "Utilities"> "Firmware password utility" in the upper system bar.
- Now deactivate the firmware password. You may be asked to enter your old firmware password. However, since this is not always the case, you should definitely give it a try. With a little luck, you can deactivate the firmware password without having to enter the old password.
