Mac: Recover deleted history in Safari
If you want to restore an accidentally deleted browser history from Safari on your Mac, you have to do a little trick. We'll show you how to get your data back.
Recover deleted Safari history on Mac
So that you can restore the deleted browser history from Safari, you need a backup with the Time Machine. Without such a backup, you cannot restore the files.
- If you have a backup, click on the Time Machine icon in the toolbar of your Mac and then on "Start Time Machine".
- Find and mark the file "~ / Library / Safari / History.plist" in the Time Machine Finder. The history of your browser is saved here.
- You will then see the "Restore" button in the lower right corner. Click on it and your Mac will restore the file.
- A dialog box will ask if you want to continue. Confirm that your browsing history is restored at the time you want.
As mature as Mac OS is, Safari keeps showing small problems. We'll show you what you can do when Safari stops loading pages in the next article.
