Mac: Use GIF as desktop background
You can also set GIF files as a desktop background on Mac. We show you what you need and how it works.
Prerequisite: app enables animated background
Unfortunately, it is not possible to display animated backgrounds only with on-board equipment. That means you need an additional program that takes over the display.
- In addition to the background color, the "Animated Desktop" program can even set the frames per second, ie how smoothly and quickly the whole thing should run. In addition, the app offers a search field in which you can automatically search for GIF-animated images. You can get the program for only 0.89 euros in the AppStore.
Set GIF background in "Animated Desktop"
Depending on which program you use, it is relatively easy to set up a desired GIF image as a background.
- Open the "Animated Desktop" program. Here you can either drag and drop the GIF file into the designated area or search for a GIF-animated file using the search field. To do this, the Safari browser opens.
- After you have dragged the file into the field, you can still set the scaling, background color and frame number.
- With "Set Desktop Image" you confirm your settings and set the background with your GIF image.
By the way: You can even set videos as a desktop background with Mac OS X.
