Mac: Create GIF - how it works
With special programs you can create GIFs for free on Mac. In this practical tip you can read which tool you can use and how you can generate the GIF file.
Mac: Create GIF with PicGIF Lite
With the free "PicGif Lite" app, you can create and edit GIF files on your Mac. The program supports both animated and still GIF images.
- First download "PicGIF Lite" from the Mac App Store. The Lite version costs nothing and can be used indefinitely.
- Now you need the individual images that you want to combine and animate in a GIF. Mark all images in the Finder by clicking on them one after the other while holding down the [CMD] key.
- Start the program "PicGIF Lite" and drag all pictures into the middle, free area.
- In the overview at the bottom you can sort the images correctly using drag and drop.
- Under "Properties" on the right-hand side, you can make a few settings, for example adjusting the playback speed.
- Finally, save the GIF on your hard drive via "File"> "Create GIF ...".
If you upgrade to the full version for 5 euros, you can even cut out video and film passages and add text to your GIF image. Alternatively, Photoshop can create GIFs.
