Mac: Activate internal microphone - how it works
All Mac models from Apple have an internal microphone. In this guide we explain how to activate it.
Automatic activation
The microphone sits on the Mac next to the camera at the top of the screen. Normally, it is activated automatically as soon as it is needed. For example, when you start a conversation on Skype, the program automatically activates the microphone. If your microphone is not activated automatically, the following steps can help.
- Open "System Preferences" and click on "Sound".
- Switch to "Input" and select "Internal microphone" in the device list.
- Check that the input volume is set high enough.
- If the problem is not resolved, the problem is probably in the software you are using to access the microphone. Update the respective program to the latest version and check the corresponding settings of the tool.
