Mac: change IP address - so it'll work
In your own network, you can change the Mac IP address relatively easily and, for example, give all devices the same IP address. In this practical tip you will learn how to do this.
Change IP address in Mac OS
Before changing the IP address of your Mac, you should make a note of all the settings or take a screenshot so that you can easily reset the settings if necessary.
- First go to "Settings" and then click on "Network".
- So that you can then change the IP address of your Mac, open the pull-down menu next to "Configure IPv4" and switch to "manual".
- You can then change the last digit of the IP address.
- All other addresses remain unchanged. Make a note of the router IP so that you can also modify the DNS server accordingly. Then go to "More Options".
- In the DNS settings, click on the "DNS" tab and then on the plus symbol, which you will find in the lower left corner.
- Finally, enter the router IP address and confirm your entry by clicking the "OK" button.
