Mac: Disable local backups
You can deactivate the local Mac backups with a simple terminal command. This way you get back a lot of storage space that the created backups take up.
How to switch off the mobile backups
- Start the terminal.
- Now enter the following command: "sudo tmutil disablelocal".
- You may be asked for your administrator password. Then enter it.
- Finally, restart your computer.
- If you change your mind later, you can reactivate the local backups: "sudo tmutil enablelocal".
You can save additional space by deleting duplicate files.
