Mac: Send mail attachments compatible with Windows
If you send a message from your Mac with the Apple Mail program, you should send the attachments with Windows compatibility. Otherwise, the recipient may have a problem with this if he uses Windows as the operating system.
Mac: How to send email attachments Windows compatible
- Sometimes Mac OS X attaches invisible additions and information to the visible part of a document. The name of these additional attachments begins with a period. This makes them invisible on Mac OS X and Unix.
- Windows does not know how to "hide" a file. The additional files are therefore visible under this operating system. If you send such a file to a Windows computer, the recipient will find two instead of just one attachment in their mailbox.
- You can fix the problem by always sending attachments compatible with Windows. To do this, go to the "Edit" menu under Mail and "Attachments".
- Here you will find the option "Always send attachments compatible with Windows". If you select the option, this is indicated by a tick in front of it. Now invisible information is no longer appended.
