Mac: Mail can't be stopped - you can do that
Unfortunately, it happens from time to time that the Mac Mail program cannot be terminated due to an error. However, you can easily force it to close. We show you how to read and send emails again.
Mac Mail hangs - so exit the program
- Use the key combination [CMD] + [ALT] + [ESC] to open the Task Manager. Select "Mail" and click "End Immediately".
- You can also open the list of active programs using the menu. To do this, navigate to "End immediately" using the apple symbol in the upper left corner.
- It can happen that programs cannot be closed in this way. In this case, start the activity display. The easiest way to get there is to use Spotlight Search. Select the "Mail" program in the activity display and click on the small "x" in the top left. In the following query, select "End immediately".
If you often have problems with your Mac and several programs do not run correctly, you should consider reinstalling Mac OS X. Before doing so, however, you should back up your data with a backup.
