Connect Mac to server / network drive - how it works
It is not difficult to connect your Mac to a server. Here we show you in five steps how to establish a connection - e.g. to a network drive.
How to connect your Mac to a server or network drive
- Double-click the Finder in the Dock. Select "Connect to server".
- Under "Server address" enter the protocol used by the server (for Windows servers smb: //) and the name or address of the server.
- With a click on the clock icon you get a selection from previously configured server connections.
- For password-protected servers, another dialog box asks for your user name and password. Otherwise, a window opens in which you can choose which volume of the server you want to activate in your Finder.
- After clicking on "OK" you can access the activated volumes in the Finder.
