Here's how you can easily create a new partition on your Mac's hard drive:
Shrink existing partition on Mac
To add a new partition, it is usually necessary to reduce the existing partition (s). To do this, perform the following steps:
- Open the hard disk utility with "Programs" -> "Utilities" -> "Hard disk utility".
- Select the hard disk that you want to partition then click on the [Partition.] Button
- In the right window you can see the logical division of the hard disk under "Partition layout". Click on the lower right corner and hold the mouse button down. This is how you can shrink the partition. Make sure that there is still enough space under the blue area (occupied area) for future data (white area). In the "Size" field you can see the size of the partition to be reduced in GB.
