It is much easier to type the approximate character on the Mac keyboard than on Windows systems. We show you how to type the symbol for rounded, almost identical values.
Mac OS: How to enter the approximate character
You can select the approximate character with the Mac keyboard directly and in certain programs in certain menus or write it with the appropriate commands:
- Use [Alt] + [x] to enter the roughly equal sign, which looks like a curved equal sign.
- If you have changed your Apple keyboard, you can simply copy the symbol from us: ≈
- In Microsoft Word you will find the approximate symbol in the integrated formula editor.
- In LaTeX's Math mode, use the "\ approx" command, in HTML you can enter "≈".
- Use the key combination [Alt] + [n] to enter the tilde ~, which is also the symbol for "proportional-zu".
