If you want to do without external programs, you can lock the screen using the preinstalled "Keychain Access" tool.
- Click the magnifying glass to the right of the time in your menu bar and enter "Keychain Access".
- Next to "Programs" or "Top hits", tap the term just mentioned.
- In the top bar, go to "Keychain Access"> "Settings ...".
- Place a checkmark next to "Show keychain status in the menu bar".
- Close the administration tool. You can now see that a new icon has appeared in your menu bar.
- Now lock your screen by clicking on the lock and selecting "Protect screen".
- If you want to work on your Mac again, you must first enter your password.

Alternatively, the screen can also be locked using a key combination.
- The screen can be locked very easily with the combination [Ctrl] + [Shift] + [⏏].
