If your Finder freezes on Mac OS X, or you want to exit and restart it for other reasons, this article shows you what you need to do.
Exit Finder in Mac OS X.
You usually end a program on Mac OS X by clicking on the name of the software in the menu bar and selecting "Quit software".
- But if you tap on the name in the Finder menu, you will only find the "Hide Finder" option.
- The Finder is still running in the background, but you can no longer see it actively on the screen.
- If you still want to quit Finder completely and restart it, open the mini task manager in Mac using the key combination [cmd] + [alt] + [esc].
- Select the Finder and then click on "Restart" (see picture).
- You have now successfully finished and restarted the Finder.
