Mac OS X: Set gesture control on the MacBook
In this practical tip, we explain how to set gesture control on your MacBook under Mac OS X. If you are new to Mac's gestures or want to change the default settings, use the following instructions to find out how to do this.
Set gesture control in Mac OS X on the MacBook
Working with the touchpad or an external trackpad, gesture control allows you to use your MacBook faster.
- Tap the Apple icon in your status bar and select "System Preferences ...".
- In the second section, click "Trackpad".
- A window opens in which you can set different gesture types.
- Move the cursor over the individual settings. You will see a video on the right explaining each gesture.
- Activate a gesture by clicking on the description. You can deactivate it by removing the check mark.
- If you want to change the number of fingers with which you trigger the gesture, click on the subheading with the small arrow (see picture).
The explanation refers to Mac OS X 10.9.3. Other versions may differ. If you have a magic mouse next to the trackpad, another practical tip shows you which gestures there are for the magic mouse.
