To be able to deactivate IPv6 under Mac OS X, you need the terminal. We show you the procedure in this practical tip.
Disable IPv6 on Mac OS X.
- Start the terminal. You can find it under "Programs" and "Utilities".
- Enter the following command to disable IPv6 for WiFi: networksetup -setv6off Wi-Fi
- If you also want to switch off IPv6 for the Ethernet adapter, use this command: networksetup -setv6off Ethernet
- You are now active in the network with IPv4.
