Mac OS X: Permanently display library folders in Finder
If you want to permanently display the library folder in the Finder in Mac OS X, you no longer have to go through the cumbersome route via the terminal. We'll show you how to do it easier.
Library folder in Mac Finder - so it'll work
As of version Mac OS X 10.7, you can conveniently display the library folder using the display function:
- To do this, first open the Finder.
- In the side menu click on the folder with the house symbol.
- Now call up the display function with the key combination [CMD] + [J]. Mark the option "Show folder library" and confirm the selection with "Use as default".
Integrate library folders via the terminal
If you are using an older Mac OS X version, you will unfortunately not be able to avoid the terminal. But here, too, the setting is done quickly:
- Open the terminal. You can find it in the Finder under "Programs -> Utilities".
- Enter the command "" chflags nohidden ~ / Library "and confirm the entry. The library folder is now permanently visible in the Finder.
There are certainly folders that you don't want everyone to see. Therefore, read how to hide files and folders on the desk.
