Mac OS X Mavericks: Have iMessage read aloud - how it works
You can have messages from iMessages read to you under OS X Mavericks. For this you have to activate a language pack in the settings. You can find out how this works in our guide.
Have messages read out of iMessages
In order for text messages from iMessages to be read aloud, you must have logged into iMessages with your Apple ID.
- Start the "Messages" app in your dock.
- Press "Messages" in the top system bar and then "Settings ...".
- Now select the "AppleScript Handler" item under the "General" tab. Then click on "Speak Events.applescript" in the dropdown menu.
- Now open any text message from iMessages. Here, press "Edit"> "Speech output"> "Start speech output" in the system bar. Your message will now be read out.
