Make Mac OS X Mavericks look like Yosemite
Make your Mac OS X Mavericks look like the new Apple operating system "Yosemite". This practical tip shows you how to give Mavericks a new look.
Mavericks in Yosemite look: the background
The new Mac OS X Yosemite will not be released until autumn. But you can make Mavericks look like Yosemite.
- First you need the Yosemite wallpaper. You can download it here. Move the picture to your Mac's Pictures folder. Then change the background image in "System Settings -> Desktop & Screen Saver".
Mavericks in the Yosemite look: icons and dock
The icons and the dock also get a new outfit for Yosemite.
- Download the Apple icon set, the iTunes button and the folder icons for Yosemite to your Mac.
- Since the downloaded files of the program icons are in PNG format, they still have to be converted into ICN. You can use the Fasticns tool, which also offers batch processing.
- You can only change the icons individually. To do this, right-click on the respective program in the Finder. If you select "Information" in the context menu, the dialog window opens. Now drag the new icon into the upper right corner of the dialog window to replace the old one. We recommend saving the old icons separately before replacing them. You can switch back to the original Mavericks look at any time if you wish.
- The folder icons are already in the correct format, you no longer need to convert them. To exchange them, proceed in exactly the same way as for the program icons.
- Simply adjust the dock to the Yosemite outfit with the small program cDock. After starting, you will receive various options for dock customization. Select "Install Pre-Made-Dock" and then "gray". If you then click on "Open", the dock appears with the new background and the new icons.
