Mac OS X: Change the position of the dock
If you run out of space on your Mac screen, moving the dock can help.
Change the position of the dock in Mac OS
You can change the dock position either via the terminal or via the control panel. We recommend the latter way as it is much simpler.
- First open the Control Panel. To do this, enter "System Settings" in the spotlight search.
- In the system settings, select the sub-item "Dock", which is on the first line.
- Now you can choose between "Left", "Middle" / "Bottom" and "Right" in the Dock -> Screen position field.
- If you select "Left" or "Right", the dock will be displayed on the side of the monitor, if "Middle" or "Bottom" it is displayed at the bottom of the screen.
If your dock is not set up correctly, you should do so. You can find programs and apps very quickly via the dock. The next practical tip will show you how to group several objects in the Dock in a folder.
