Mac OS X: Recording songs in garage tape - a guide
With Apple's garage band, you have an entire music studio on your Mac. This practical tip shows you how to record songs with it.
Insert musical instruments and vocals into garage band projects
The garage band software natively supports the connection of microphones and instruments. So you can easily bring your songs to Mac.
- Connect your microphone or instrument to the jack connector on your Mac.
- Start Garageband and open a new project. Select "Amp Collection" or "Voice" there.
- Now select a sound track and press the red record button or the r button. After counting one measure, the recording starts.
- Press the button again to stop recording. You already have a sound track with your instrumental or vocal input.
Adapt garage band features and settings to song
Depending on the preselection you have made, Garageband provides you with general settings. However, it is advisable to adapt these to your requirements. The software also has some features to help you with the recording.
- Set the tempo by clicking the value above "bpm" and dragging it up or down.
- You can also change the key by clicking.
- For example, activate the metronome while recording. Then make sure you stay on time.
- If your instrument is out of tune, click the tuning fork icon in the top right. If you have connected an instrument, you can now tune it.
