Mac OS X: Deactivate storage medium instead of eject it
Under Mac OSx you can also deactivate a storage medium instead of eject it. So you don't have to unplug the storage medium the next time you activate it.
Deactivate storage medium instead of eject it
- To deactivate the storage medium, first open the hard disk utility. You can find this, for example, using the Spotlight search.
- Call up the storage medium to be deactivated in the list on the left.
- Right-click on the partition (the entry under the actual storage medium) and select "Deactivate medium". The storage medium is now deactivated and disappears from the Finder.
- If you would like to reactivate the storage medium, simply right click on the entry again and select "Activate medium". Now the storage medium reappears in your Finder without you having to unplug the storage medium.
