Mac OS X: Enlarge system font - how it works
This practical tip shows you how to enlarge the system font under Mac OS X.
Increase system font under Mac OS X.
You cannot enlarge the system font globally in Mac OS X. With the following steps we explain how you can still change the font via detours.
- If you don't need high resolution on your Mac, another article will show you how to lower the resolution and enlarge the overall picture in Mac OS X.
- Increase the font in the browser by pressing [cmd] and [+] at the same time. You reduce the font size if you type a [-] instead of the [+].
- You can change the symbol font on the desktop by choosing "View"> "Show view options" in the menu bar at the top. In the new menu, set the font size to the highest value under "Text size". (see the screenshot)
- Alternatively, you can enlarge the entire screen with a key combination. To do this, open the system settings and navigate to the "Accessibility" option. In the "Zoom" tab, check "Use keyboard shortcuts to zoom". In "Zoom Style" also select "Entire Screen". You can now enlarge the entire screen with the key combination [alt] + [cmd] + [+].
