Mac OS X: Copy text without formatting
On Mac OS X, you cannot copy text to the clipboard without formatting it, but you can adapt it to the format of the target document when pasting. In this practical tip we will show you how.
Mac: Fit text to target formatting
To adapt text that you have copied to your Mac's clipboard to the formatting in the target document, proceed as follows:
- Open the application in which you want to insert the text.
- In the "Edit" menu, select "Paste and Fit Style".
- Alternatively, finger acrobats also press the key combination [alt] + [shift] + [cmd] + [v].
- The text from the clipboard is now pasted behind the cursor and adapted to the formatting of the document.
Clear text formatting using the Textedit application
If you want to completely delete the formatting of a text in the clipboard, you have to take a small detour via the OSX application "Textedit".
- Open the "Textedit" program on your Mac.
- Paste the text from the clipboard using the "Paste" command in the "Edit" menu or with the key combination [cmd] + [v].
- Select the "Convert to plain text" option in the "Format" menu. This will delete all text formatting.
- Select the text and copy it to the clipboard again.
