Mac OS X: dictate texts offline - how it works
You can also dictate text offline on Mac OS X. If you don't have an internet connection on your Mac at times, you can still work. In our practical tip, we explain how to activate offline dictation mode.
Dictate texts offline on your Mac
With the help of the dictation function of Mac OS X, you can speak texts into the microphone of your Mac. The commands are then processed into text format. An internet connection is generally required for the function. If you don't have internet access, activate the offline mode in the following way:
- Start System Preferences on your Mac.
- Now click on the "Dictation & Language" option in the menu.
- Press "On" next to the "Dictation" font.
- Place a check mark next to "Use advanced dictation function". Please note that 937 MByte must be downloaded for the offline dictation.
- Following the download, you can now enter your dictations without an internet connection.
