Mac OS X Update: Ethernet does not work - what to do?
Since the latest update for Mac OS X, the Ethernet adapter has suddenly stopped working and many Mac users are no longer able to access the Internet. Apple has since released a solution. We will show you how to import them and how to reactivate the Ethernet adapter.
Mac OS X Update: How to fix the Ethernet error
- Press and hold the [Options] button and click the Apple logo at the top.
- Select the entry "System information" and then "Software"> "Installations".
- Expand the list and sort it by name by clicking on "Software Name" above.
- Look for the entry "Incompatible Kernel Extension Configuration Data" and click on the name. The version "3.28.1" must be specified there.
- Now you need to connect your Mac via WiFi before continuing.
- Now start the terminal and enter the command "sudo softwareupdate --background" and confirm with [Enter].
- Then you have to restart your Mac. Then the Ethernet controller should work again.
- Note: If you do not have a WLAN adapter, you can also undo the update before following the instructions.
