This guide explains how to check the volume of your Mac hard drive under OS X Mavericks.
View disk volume on OS X Mavericks
You can use the Disk Utility to check the volume of your hard drive. You can find detailed information about the available and used memory.
- In the Spotlight search, enter the keyword "hard disk utility" at the top right and then select the first hit. Alternatively, you can find the tool in the "Utilities" folder.
- Your hard drives are shown on the left. Select the desired volume here.
- Information about the volume of your hard disk is now displayed. You can see this further down in your open window.
Available and used memory
In this field you can now see some data about your volume. The number of folders and the total capacity are presented here. The used and free memory is also shown. You can also find out the total number of your files in this window.
