Mac OS X: VTDecoderXPCService terminated unexpectedly
In this practical tip, we will tell you what it means if the service "VTDecoderXPCService" has ended unexpectedly on the Mac.
Apple Mac OS X: "VTDecoderXPCService has ended unexpectedly" - what to do?
- The "VTDecoderXPCService" under OSX 10.7 (Mountain Lion) or higher is the video environment that takes care of all audio and video playback in QuickTime.
- This component crashes whenever it encounters a corrupt video. If the affected video file is on the Finder's desk, the error message is issued at irregular intervals.
- However, if the file is in a folder, you will see the error message every time you open the respective folder as an attempt is made to preview the video.
- But how do you get this message away? Very simple: Check which video file causes the component to crash and then delete it. You can also try converting the file to another format using the Free Video Converter tool.
If you are disturbed by the system sounds in Finder functions, you can also switch them off entirely. You can read how to do this in our next practical tip.
