Mac OS X Yosemite: Sign up for the beta program - Here's how
Since July 24th, 2014 registered Mac users can test the beta version of the upcoming new operating system MacOS X Yosemite. You can still sign up for the beta program. You don't need to be a Mac owner registered as a developer. We'll show you how to register for the beta program.
Mac OS X Yosemite: Sign up for beta with Apple ID
MacOS Yosemite promises many innovations for Mac owners. If you want to be one of the first to get your hands on Yosemite, you can register for the beta phase.
- Go to the Apple OS X Beta special page set up by Apple for this purpose.
- Click on the blue "Sign up" button there.
- Now enter your Apple ID and your Apple ID password. If you do not yet have an Apple ID, follow these instructions first.
- Confirm with "Sign in".
- Now the beta program agreement is displayed. Incidentally, we recommend that you install the beta software on a separate Mac rather than on production systems. Confirm with "Accept" if you agree.
- Apple then thanks you for signing up. That means the application for the beta program worked. As soon as the beta for OS X Yosemite is available for download, you will be notified by email.
If you are interested, you should register quickly, because the possibility to register has been around for some time. Apple limits access to download the pre-release version to the first million prospects. It is rather surprising why users can still register for it. Incidentally, you can also search for and install updates for your Mac OS X via the terminal.
