Mac OS X Yosemite: Disable Spotlight suggestions
The new function of the Spotlight suggestions under MacOS X Yosemite sends user data to Apple's server without being asked. If you do not want this, you can deactivate the function.
Yosemite: Disable Spotlight suggestions
To prevent your data from being sent to Apple, just turn off the Spotlight suggestions.
- Go to "System Settings" and there to "Spotlight".
- Uncheck "Spotlight suggestions", "Bookmarks and history" and "Bing web searches".
Take precautions in Safari too: switch off spotlight suggestions
You should also deactivate the suggestions in Safari:
- Open the Safari browser and click on "Settings" via "Safari".
- Select the "Search" tab there.
- There, deactivate the "Include Spotlight suggestions" option.
