Mac OS X: Change time zone - how it works
In this practical tip, we explain how you can change the time zone under Mac OS X. For example, you can set the respective time when you are abroad.
How to change the time zone on Mac OS X.
The time zone is initially set and usually does not change. We'll show you how to make changes if necessary.
- You open the system settings by clicking on the Apple icon in your status bar and selecting "System Settings".
- Click "Date & Time" below.
- The middle tab "Time zone" shows you the current selection. If you allow automatic location based on your location, the time zone should change automatically. Otherwise, follow the further instructions.
- Uncheck "Automatically set time zone based on location".
- Now tap on the country in which you are located on the world map or change the desired location below by selecting "Next city".
- The time zone and thus the time in the status bar changes immediately. You no longer have to confirm anything.
In another practical tip, we will show you how to activate the automatic time change on your Mac. The instructions refer to Mac OS X version 10.9.3. If you use a different version, the explanation may differ.
