System requirements for Mac OS Yosemite
The following Mac models meet the system requirements for Yosemite. Even somewhat older MacBooks are compatible with the new operating system.
- Mac Pro in the generation since January 2008.
- Mac Mini from the third generation since March 2009.
- MacBook as a 13 "unibody model since 2008. The 13" polycarbonate model from early 2009.
- MacBook Pro as 13 "model in the seventh generation from June 2009. The 15" and 17 "model in the third generation from June 2007.
- MacBook Air from late 2008.
- iMac from the fifth generation since August 2007.

Your Mac should also meet these requirements for OS X Yosemite
- The RAM installed in your Mac should be at least 4 GB in size.
- You should have at least 10 GB of free hard disk space.
- A 64-bit Intel processor must be installed in your Mac.
