Mac OS Yosemite: The new mail functions
There are several new features in Mail on Mac OS X Yosemite. Above all, these features improve the handling of attachments.
Function in mail under Yosemite: the markings
One of the new features of Mail on Mac OS X Yosemite are the markers. This saves you from having to switch programs to edit attachments. And this is how it works:
- First add an attachment to a new mail as usual. This can be, for example, an image or a PDF document.
- The attachment is now shown in large format. Move the mouse into the upper right corner of the attachment and click on the small down arrow.
- Now select "Markers" from the dropdown menu.
- Here you can now add text, draw, place signatures, add shapes and adjust the font, size and color.
- After you've edited your attachments, click "Done" in the upper right corner.
Send large attachments via email in Mac OS X Yosemite.
With Mail in Yosemite you can now send significantly larger attachments than before. With this solution, you can easily bypass the storage restrictions of some mail providers:
- Add attachments to your mail as usual. However, these are no longer limited to approx. 35 MB, but can be up to 5 GB in size.
- The first time you use large attachments, you will be asked if you want to use Mail Drop.
- To use Mail Drop, you need to be signed in to iCloud.
- If the recipient of your mail also uses mail under Yosemite, they will see the attachments as usual.
- All other users who use an app or another mail program will receive a link with which you can download the files.
