With OS X Yosemite and an iPhone, you can use your Mac to make calls. You can find the requirements and detailed instructions in this article.
Mac OS X Yosemite: Make calls on the Mac
With Mac OS X Yosemite and iOS 8 and higher, you can answer and start calls on both your iPhone and your Mac.
- If you are called on the iPhone, the Mac you are currently working on also rings. Here you can accept the call and make calls using the Mac. It is also possible to decline and optionally send a message to the caller at the same time.
- When you call, you see a notification on Mac with the caller's name, phone number, and profile picture.
- Starting a call is just as easy. Just click on a phone number in Contacts, Calendar, Messages, Spotlight or Safari.
- In Facetime you can access the iPhone call list or alternatively enter a number manually.
- Prerequisite: For this feature you need an iPhone with at least iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite.
