Mac: program hangs - what to do?

It can also happen under Mac OS: A program hangs. Then only one thing really helps. You must exit the program completely. That's how it's done:
End the hanging program in the dock
The fastest, but not necessarily the best way to end a program is via the Dock:
- Hold down the [Option] key and right-click on the hanging program icon in the Dock.
- In the context menu, click on the "End immediately" option.
Quit the program on the Mac using the apple menu
A program that seems to stop responding does not necessarily have to crash. A quick exit can therefore lead to undesired data loss. It is better to determine the status of the application beforehand:
- Click on the apple icon in the menu bar and select "End immediately". Alternatively, you can also use the shortcut [alt] + [cmd] + [esc].
- A hanging, unresponsive program is highlighted in red. In this case, click on its entry and then on the [End immediately] button.
