Mac: End process under OS X - Here's how
Similar to Windows, you can end processes in Mac OS X using a kind of task manager. In this practical tip, we will show you how to call up the task manager and use it to switch off applications or individual processes.
Kill processes on Mac OS X.
You end individual processes under Mac OS X via the activity display.
- Open your launchpad and select the "Other" folder. There you will find the "activity indicator".
- Here you will also find individual processes that your system is currently executing. To end a process, double click on it and select the "End" button.
Quit the program on Mac OS X.
If you want to end running applications, you can do this via a slimmed down task manager.
- Simultaneously press the [cmd] + [alt] + [esc] keys to open a list of all running applications.
- Now select a program and click on "End immediately".
