Mac: Skype can't be ended - what to do?
If you can't stop Skype on your Mac, our tips will help you.
Skype on Mac: Old version prevents termination
If you can't end Skype, it may be because you don't have the latest version of Skype installed.
- Click on the "App Store" in the toolbar and then on "Updates" above.
- When Skype appears there, click the "Refresh" button.
- The update from Skype is now imported.
- If there is no update available, you can download the latest version of Skype here and install it manually.
Exit Skype from the Mac Docking Bar
If you've only tried to simply exit Skype so far, you can use the "Exit" function in the Mac Docking Bar.
- Click the Skype icon in the dock bar.
- Hold the mouse button down until a menu opens.
- Click on "Exit" there.
- If that doesn't work either, try the key combination [Cmd] + [q] while you have Skype open.
Restart Mac and reinstall Skype
- If the previous options didn't work, restart your Mac.
- If in doubt, you can also uninstall Skype and then reinstall it.
In the next practical tip, we'll explain how to completely log out of Skype on Mac.
