Mac: Enter Spanish special characters - how it works
The special characters are unfortunately very hidden on the Mac. But of course there are and we'll tell you where you can find special Spanish characters, for example.
Enter Spanish special characters via shortcut
The fastest way to enter the most common Spanish special characters, such as the accent, is to use the keyboard. There are some convenient shortcuts for this:
- Ú: You can also find a separate key for the accent on Mac. It is located at the top right between the [ß] and the [delete arrow]. First press the [Accent] key and then the corresponding letter. If you need the accent from top left to bottom right, press the [Shift] key simultaneously with the [Accent] key.
- Ñ: You will find the tilde above the letter key [N]. To do this, first press the [Alt] and [N] keys and then the corresponding letter. You can see which one is in the list on your screen.
- ¿+ ¡: You can get the upside down exclamation mark or question mark by pressing the [Alt Gr] -, [Shift] - and the normal question mark or exclamation mark key.
Set the Spanish keyboard layout
If you write Spanish texts on the computer very often, it is best to activate the Spanish keyboard on your Mac straight away:
- To do this, go to "System Settings" and select "Country Settings".
- Then click on "Keyboard" and decide on the "Spanish keyboard layout".
- If you finally activate "Show keyboard menu in the menu bar", you can switch between the different keyboard layouts.
