Mac: Change the default printer
You can change the default printer on your Mac at any time. So you don't have to set the right printer after every restart.
Change default printer on Mac OS X.
If you choose a standard printer, you will save time on the next printing. Especially if you use one or more printers in a network, it makes sense to set a standard printer.
- Open the "System Settings". These are usually stored in the dock. Alternatively, you can find it using the Spotlight search at the top right.
- Now select the "Printer & Scan" option under the "Hardware" heading.
- All known printers are shown here on the left. At the bottom of the window you will see the menu for the standard printer (see picture). Click on the arrow symbols in the button. You will then see a list of the known printers.
- Select your favorite printer. This is then set up as the default printer.
