Why the keyboard doesn't work on Mac
If you are using a MacBook, another practical tip will tell you what you can do about a broken keyboard on the MacBook. In the next section, we'll tell you how to fix the iMac, Mac Pro, and Mac Mini.
- To rule out that the keyboard has an error, connect it to another device. If it does not work there either, the input device has a defect.
- Change the USB port on your Mac to test whether the slot works or the keyboard is faulty.
- If the keyboard has recently become wet or has stood in a damp environment, you should wait until it is completely dry.
- If you are using a Bluetooth keyboard, the batteries may be dead. Otherwise, make sure the keyboard is turned on and restart your Mac.
- Test in another user account whether the keyboard works there. If so, you should remove recently installed software under your own user account.
