You can change the key commands on your Mac using the system settings of your operating system. In an overview, various subject areas such as "Mission Control" or "Launchpad & Dock" are displayed. On the right side of the window you configure the respective key combination for the desired command. We show you how to set the shortcuts for various commands.
Configure system key commands on Mac
Some pre-installed key combinations for certain commands are not optimally configured. Or maybe you just have your own favorite combinations that you also want to use on a Mac.
- First open the system settings via the menu dock of your Macs.
- Next, select the "Keyboard" item under the "Hardware" heading.
- Now you can see the subject fields for key commands on the left. Confirm the desired topic with one click and then see the setting options on the right.
- Select the fields that are already assigned key combinations such as "F10" or "CMD + I" and enter the desired new shortcut.
Assign programs with your own shortcuts
You can also assign various programs and apps with key commands. This is how you start frequently used programs without having to use the mouse or the touchpad.
- Call up the system settings and select the "Keyboard" item under the "Hardware" heading.
- Navigate to the menu item "Program shortcuts" on the left side of the window.
- Select the small button with the "+" on the right side of the menu window.
- By clicking on "All Programs" you can choose a program from the list. If the program of your choice is not included, simply search for it manually by clicking on "Other ...".
- Enter the desired key combination and the program can be called up at any time using a shortcut.
