Mac: Create subtitles for videos - Here's how
In this practical tip, we will explain how to create subtitles for videos on your Mac.
Create subtitles for videos on Mac
With the pre-installed program iMovie you can create video subtitles on Mac:
- Open iMovie.
- Click on "Create".
- Choose "Movie". In the opened window, select "No topic" and confirm the new film project "My film" with "OK".
- Via "Import" you add a video file. Right-click on the added video file and click on the small "+" symbol at the bottom right to add it to the "My Movie" workspace. An alternative is to drag the video onto the work surface.
- Now click on "Title" at the bottom left. "Lower third" is suitable as a subtitle. Drag "Lower third" into the work area as well.
- The subtitle bar in the work area can now be dragged as long as you want. To do this, move the mouse over the bar and drag it.
- To edit the subtitle, double click on the bar. The text field opens in the top right of the playback display. You can also choose the font and font size.
- For further subtitles in other parts of the film, simply drag the subtitle into the work area again and proceed as described.
