Shut down Mac with a delay - how it works
Listening to music to fall asleep, watching the current film to the end - there are many reasons for delaying the Mac shutdown. We'll show you how it works with on-board equipment.
Create a schedule and shutdown the Mac with a time delay
Apple has integrated the function to shutdown the Mac time-controlled in the system settings:
- Open the "System settings" and then the "Save energy" function.
- Select the "Schedule" button at the bottom right.
- Put the bottom tick and choose "Switch off". In addition to when the Mac should shutdown, you can also select the days of the week when the schedule should be activated.
- Make sure that running background programs do not block the shutdown.
In another practical tip, we will show you how you can have your Mac start up and shut down automatically.
