If you are working with a Mac, you can expand the display to multiple monitors. Here we show you how to connect a second monitor to your Mac and configure it properly.
Connect an additional monitor to the Mac
You will find a mini display port or Thunderbolt port on every current Mac. Connect an additional monitor to Macbook, iMac or Mac Mini. Some models also have an HDMI output, which you can use to connect screens to your Mac.
- You connect MacBook Air and MacBook Pro to a monitor via the Thunderbolt interface using a mini Displayport cable.
- Mac Mini and Mac Pro each have an HDMI port that connects the devices to a screen. The Mac Mini also has a Thunderbolt port - a Mac Pro even six.
- On the back of the iMac you will also find a mini display port that offers space for a second monitor.
Extend Mac display across multiple monitors
When you connect a screen to your Mac, the display is duplicated naturally. To expand the workspace, you need to change a few settings:
- Open the system settings.
- Click on "Monitors".
- Go to the "Arrange" section.
- Uncheck "Synchronize screens".
- You can see the screens on top of each other. Drag a screen to the left or right side to expand the display.
