If you want to connect your projector to your Macbook, you can quickly find out: the cable does not fit! In this article, we show you how to do this.
Connect MacBook to a projector - so it'll work
To connect the MacBook to a projector, you have to use the right adapter:
- Check projector: Your projector has either a VGA, DVI or HDMI input. You have to extend the supplied cable with a special adapter.
- Check MacBook: Older models in particular have connection points for mini DVI and display port. All newer models have a Thunderbolt connection.
- Find adapters: Apple has an adapter for every combination. You can get these in Apple stores, from electronics retailers or on the Internet. The most popular adapters HDMI-Thunderbolt and VGA-Thunderbolt are available on Amazon for 10 to 15 euros.
- In most cases, the projector is immediately recognized when connected to the Mac and the image is transmitted. If this is not the case, you can use the "Detect monitors" function under the "Monitors" category in the system settings.
